ABOUT ME...
Alex Powell is a 22 year old artist from Indianola, Iowa. His career began at the age of 12 doing "edits" on his phone for fun. At age 14, he purchased Photoshop as an attempt to create better graphics for his followers on Instagram. At the age of 15, he became the lead creative for a Division 1 Football program. By the time he was 20 years old, Alex was already the youngest full-time Creative Director in Division 1 Football. Alex's past employers include Texas State Football, Indiana State Football, Indiana State Athletics, Portland State Football, Pro Football Focus, and over 100 high school football and basketball recruits from across the country. Alex's first job in college athletics was working as Lead Graphic Designer for Portland State Football. Alex was employed by Portland State for three years (2016-2019) and was in charge of creating content for social media, recruiting, print, advertisements, and any other creative need that may arise. Once hired, Alex was in charge of creating a brand new look for PSU Football across all of their social media platforms and for their recruiting efforts. This new creative look was created with the idea of not only showcasing the the athletes in the best way possible, but also to show the natural beauty of the city of Portland and the state of Oregon. While employed by PSU football, Alex was also pursuing a diploma as full-time high school student and four sport athlete. In the summer of 2019, Alex was hired as the Director of Creative Media for Indiana State Football. He was tasked with not only elevating ISU football to the top of the ranks creatively in FCS football, but to make them competitive with FBS programs as well. His duties with the team included creating and managing all graphic design, photography, and videography for the team for social media, recruiting, print, and marketing. Coordinating and running all photoshoots for promotional and recruiting events. Shooting and editing all highlight tapes for the team in-season and during the offseason. Coordinating and creating all banners and posters for facilities including locker room, stadium, and football offices. And finally, managing a small team of creative interns that helped with highlights, graphics, and photoshoots. Alex was also pursuing his Bachelor's Degree as a full-time student at Indiana State University on top of working for the football team. The summer of 2021, Alex was hired as a year long, part-time Graphic Design Intern for Pro Football Focus. While working with PFF, Alex was charged with designing graphics for all of PFF's social platforms, website, and promotional deals. While being employed, he created social templates, promotional flyers, article headers, specialty graphics, jersey swaps, and much more. This was Alex's first job for a media/analytics company and only his second job not being the lead creative. Finally, in Spring 2022 Alex was hired as the Director of Creative Media for Texas State Football. For his first full-time job as a creative, Alex was hired to oversee all Bobcat creative and social media duties. Upon his hiring, he became the youngest active full-time Creative Director in Division 1 FBS at only 20 years old. After arriving in San Marcos in June of 2022, Alex began working on establishing a previously non-existent creative department. After bringing in eight student interns to assist with creative and ordering the right equipment, the foundation had now been set. Alex's duties with Texas State Football included leading all graphic design, photography, creative video, and social media efforts. Planning and coordinating photoshoots for recruiting and promotional efforts. As well as meeting and coordinating with athletics and marketing departments for all social and creative campaigns with the team. In his lone year at the helm, Texas State Football's social accounts increased by over 11k followers on Twitter and almost 10k followers on Instagram. As well as became one of the most prominent and consistent brands in all of college football. When he isn't working, Alex enjoys watching movies, playing guitar, hiking, cooking, visiting museums, spending time with his loved ones, and watching his beloved Minnesota Vikings and Oklahoma City Thunder. Fun Fact: Alex was once committed and signed to play college football! RESUME
